Origa

winter evening —
haltingly a child reads
the fairy tale's words

Sumi ink and card paper, with some colors from Chinese color chips. This is the first time I tried to paint in the "fairy tale illustration" style rather than in a sumi-e style. The haiga was done for the anniversary of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin's birthday. The text was handwritten with pen on the painting itself, and the lettering resembles ancient Russian font.
