The old man with horse
is plowing a last rut
and his shadow.
Starac za konjem
zaora poslednju brazdu
i svoju senku.
The English version of this haiku received an Honorable Mention at the Suruga Baika 7th Literary Festival 2005. Previously published in the trilingual anthology At the End of the Day, 2005.

A camp fire.
Moving left and right –
shadows of Gypsies.
Logorska vatra.
Kreću se levo – desno
senke Cigana.
This haiku won first prize at the XIII Odzaci 2002 Haiku Festival in Serbia.

A red poppy
in the field of yellow wheat
churned up by the wind.
Crvenu bulku
u polju zrelog žita
talasa vetar.

The city fountain.
Moonlight shining
in a glass bottle.
Gradska fontana.
U staklenoj flaši
sjaj mesečine.
The last three poems were included in the bilingual (Serbian - English) haiku anthology The Slightly Open Door (2004)


Zoran Antonić was born on July 5th 1976 in Novi Sad. His haiku have been published in books, anthologies and journals in Serbian, English, German, Russian, Bulgarian, Japanese and other languages,and he has won a number of national and international awards.
