Haiku in French by Gilles Fabre, Dublin, Ireland
Translation: author
First day of spring ~
there are more and more ducks
coming to feed
Premier jour de printemps ~
de plus en plus de canards
viennent manger
* * *
In this hectic world
I prepare tea for a friend
not seen in a long time
Dans ce monde trépidant
je prepare du thé à un ami
pas vu depuis longtemps
* * *
One horn up, one down ~
are you sizing me up
snail in the hedge?
Une corne en l’air, l’autre baissée ~
me jauges-tu de ta haie,
escargot ?
* * *
In the last boat
to reach the shore
the biggest catch!
Dans la dernière barque
qui regagne le rivage
la plus grosse pêche !
* * *
This friend
I thought I knew ~ in his car boot
a hunting gun
Cet ami
que je croyais connaître
a dans son coffre un fusil de chasse
