black coffee darker than the nights without you	kaping maitim masahol pa sa gabing wala ka sa piling

his voice quivers as he sings their love song at her wake	garalgal ang tinig nang awitan niya bangkay na asawa

evening chill she keeps listening for his footsteps	gabing malamig naghihintay na marinig kaniyang pagbabalik
Born and raised in the Philippines, but now living in the United States since 1971, I am a retired librarian from the Los Angeles (California) County Public Library. I have been writing in the two languages since my high school days.
