the
cold night
comes out of the stones
all morning |
die
kalte Nacht
kommt aus den Steinen
den ganzen Morgen |
| * * * |
across the field
the slant of tall grass
the way we've come
|
quer übers Feld
das hohe Gras geneigt
wo wir gingen
|
| * * * |
new green leaves
a child I don't know
waves to me
|
frisches Blattgrün
ein Kind das ich nicht kenne
winkt mir zu
|
| * * * |
chopping wood--
someone does the same
a moment later
|
Holzhacken--
jemand macht das gleiche
einen Moment später
|
| * * * |
a prisoner's letter--
the wide spaces
between words
|
Brief eines Häftlings--
der weite Raum
zwischen den Wörtern
