Haiku in Slovenian by Alenka Zorman, Ljubljana, Slovenia
Translation: author
grey day
only a seagull draws
the horizon
siv dan
le galeb zariše
obzorje
* * *
on the hilltop
heavy shoes and
a feathery soul
vrh hriba
težki čevlji in
peresna duša
* * *
first crescent is cutting
the tops of cypresses —
a deer crosses the road
prvi krajec
reže vrhove cipres —
srna steče čez cesto
* * *
yearning for warmth
a sunflower bows to
the sun in a puddle
iskala ga je
se sklonila k soncu v luži
sončnica
* * *
hydrangeas
only on his grave —
he was a gardener
hortenzije le
na njegovem grobu —
bil je vrtnar
